The Reality Poem by Lore Me34

The Reality

Rating: 5.0

I sit here deep in thought thinking about all the things I was taught. Like never to judge someone by the color of their skin or how the police officer is our friend. These are things I was taught when I was so very young but now these days those ideas feel very dumb. For me, as a black man, I'm always being judged by the color of my skin and as for the officer he never treats me like a friend. In fact just because I'm black the officer believes that means it's ok to shoot me in the back. For if I was white everything would be all right. I'd be treated like caviar on a silver platter and it wouldn't have to march around yelling out black lives matter. So I guess those things that I was taught when I was a child were just a fantasy because here in America racism is the reality.
