The Round Robin Poem by Sheena Blackhall

The Round Robin

The Round Robin
Dear All,

Another year away! Here's an update
Our annual doings menu on a plate
Our great-great-great-grandmother, Anne-Augustus
Died very old and very kindly left us
Enough to fund that world cruise we wanted
On land, a TIGER chased us, how we panted!
But we escaped, and made a documentary
It won a Bafta, filming was exemplary
Our youngest, Percy, now has six degrees
And since the operation on my knees
I've climbed up Everest, I've swum Loch Ness
My latest book's hot off the printing press4
A Self-Help number- how to beat the blues
Our eldest Chrissie's just been on the news
For beating off ten muggers, with Kung Fu
Six are in hospital, a good thing too
Another five grandchildren have popped out
How our small tribe have all begun to sprout
And each and every one of them are winners!
Their projects all succeed, all money spinners!
I've had some work done on the bits that sag
With nips and tucks, I shouldn't really brag
I'd pass for thirty at a push, I think..
I'll have to stop. The printer's out of ink
