India has been a land of sages
Who have roamed about the place since ages
There have been sages like Shankaracharya
Who have been true to their name of being an Acharya
India has had a glorious past
Before the English and the Mughals came who made it appear like a holocaust
It has been an epicentre of knowledge
But the British came to India only to make money and eat porridge
In fact the teachings of the sages today seem to have all gone in vain
As living a life of a sage today means bearing just suffering and pain
The modern day sage is the one who abstains
And leads a life filled with both pleasure and pain
For earning money is not a sin
As it is better than becoming a scavenger searching for food from a dustbin
But is it ok to beg for money while being dressed as a sage
For the term 'modern day sage' is not all what it says
It also refers to the people begging for money on the pavements
For it is us who think they deserve a right or conferment
In fact they don't have any rights akin to the sages of the past
For it is a slow genocide or an economic holocaust
Something must be done at the scale of a revolution
Which can prove to be its only solution
Some scheme of the government wouldn't get the job done
For it is the people who must realise that the tables are to be turned
In the end we can only hope for a better future
As it can prove to be the beginning of an end or closure.
The British mugged India of precious commodities at a low price and sold them in Britain at a high price, all in the name of capitalism.
