The rose did once ask the shadow:
'Every day, why do you follow me? '
The shadow replied, 'Never have I seen
Such beauty to compare with thee.'
The rose blushed crimson in confusion
And didn't know what else to say
The shadow, courteously said:
'Let me stay near your beauty if I may'.
'It is only by your beautiful substance
That I may even take my form
Your very existence enables me
To exist here and perform.'
The rose and the shadow thusly
Became the closest of friends
From then, every sunrise to sunset
The lowly shadow the rose defends.
