The Silence Broke Poem by Leslie Alexis

The Silence Broke

The air was so quiet their heartbeats were heard.
Each on its own as sweet as the call of a song bird.
Their heartbeat as drums and their breath as violins.
They stood, awed, as Adam and Eve must had been.

The breeze remained on the hills, the rains the sky.
All that was were the light of the other in their eye.
The sun stayed still and shadowless was the day
When a boy and girl completed love on Cielo bay.

The sea was silent as in a coming storm.
Love was the thing that made these waters warm.
There he remained Mr., she was no longer Ms.
The silence broke as the newly-weds kissed.
