The Sparrow That Flew! Poem by Eric Cockrell

The Sparrow That Flew!

kiss me!
like you remember,
the taste of my flesh...
with lips that quiver,
sucking light from shadow.
undressing slowly
in sync with the earth,
the softest flutter
of touch ignites!

take me!
like tides hug the shore,
mountains tremble,
and winter trees shout!
the pulse of my passion
surging deep, long, and strong.
till you break the storm
like a twig neath your feet.

swallow me!
till i am no more,
my body a sacrifice
left at eternity's door.
burn me till nothing
is left to withhold.
the prayer on the cross,
the sparrow that flew!
