The True Cost Of Christmas. Poem by David Wood

The True Cost Of Christmas.

Rating: 5.0

I'm not killing a tree for Christmas
The majestic Norway spruce
Can live out its lifespan in the forest.
That tall snow covered beauty,
Makes a contribution to nature
Far greater than I do.

I don't need to eat a fat turkey
Force fed with food additives
Unnaturally pumped with too much food.
The bird has no choice at all,
Nobody will ever think of the cost
Or of that birds sacrifice.

Christmas can be costly to nature
There's no benefit at all
If when you consider climate change.
Think of the environment,
The destruction of the biosphere
There must be another way?
