The Unexpected Journey Poem by Heather Z. Hanna

The Unexpected Journey

I've traveled to many places.
Places I didn't expect to be.
Witnessed the August meteors
From a small Swiss balcony.
Explored rising rocky crevices
In the hot Death Valley.
Hiked the glorious Grand Canyons.
Backpacked the high treeless country
Of the Grand Tetons
A potter's mountain teahouse
In the rainy season of Okinawa.
Each and every place I go
There is beauty and wonder to behold.
I expect to travel many more places.
I've learned that where, is truly unknown.

But when I found my Heart,
Which is always inside of me,
Had stepped out to travel
On an unexpected journey,
It was with surprize and awe
That it could have been possible,
For my solitary Heart
To have traveled so far.
It went to the highest highs and the lowest lows.
And all along the way was beauty and wonder to behold
For my Heart, in one short time
Has traveled farther
Than I could have ever Hoped to be.
