! The Unity Of All Things Poem by Michael Shepherd

I appreciate the sentiment of unity very much. It's very appealing. I tried to capture some of the feeling in a poem about Einstein's unified field theory. It goes beyond science and is almost a religious feeling, or perhaps a replacement for religious feelings.

M, I find this glorious. I'm considering the idea of a belief being dismissed as 'pointless' - I find that kind of area interesting, the whole area of whether one can choose to believe. Which brings me on to the idea that as you indicate a unity cannot be 'proved' - well therein lies the nature of belief, I guess. Take it or leave it, succumb or not... I prefer the latter, as you suggest, it lends a certain hope. Scientific 'verification', the whole notion of proof, is but itself a schema of belief anyway, yes? Anyway.... ahem... back to the plot. A piece I value, calming the mood, making the old brain cells churn around a bit.... thank you. :) t x

'a place for grace, for ordered life, for hope, and charity, and love...a boundless place, a grace..............' is a truly beutiful concept. It sounds so simple....and yet, is one of the hardest things to practice, ever! !
