The Unthinkable Poem by Sara Militello

The Unthinkable

Rating: 5.0

Unthinkable things remain unspoke
Especially when conceptual ideals lack
Substance even of smoke.

A cultural system set into motion
Sustains itself most by the sheer power
Of its non-thinking use of slogans

Character is destiny and so loudly displays
its salient qualities of power through violence,
it tends to rule the most unfit of characters.

A civilization so named supports what is said here
Tho' it denies any shame when challenged
But nothing is less worthy of being thought civil.

Voila! It's rather a place rule by crassness and greed,
spawns thoughtlessness to the umpteenth power and always
ends up at the extinction event.

Our civilization is no exception to this universal score
So on time is it to meet its sure destiny;
Note events uncountable times ere dissenting at my door.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem speaks for itself in substance and the date it was written. It's ben a long time coming to this point but the public was enjoined to 'keep smiling. Dont 'be negative' while the little bonfire became the conflagration it is today....' I used the term 'unspoke' in the first line deliberately under the rule of poetic lisence. (to rhyme better)
