The Watchtower Poem by Jeff Fleischer

The Watchtower

Rating: 5.0

The watchtower chimes again in the town square.
Counting down the seconds left in my life.
Reminding me of regrets and unfulfilled dreams.
My soul shudders in sheer terror.
My body shakes and shivers.
Time wasted, opportunitites lost.
My nightmare of death becomes a reality.
I can not stop the ticking.
Time will not slow down.
Will not let me catch up to it.
Will not wait for me.
I deluded myself.
Had all the time in the world.
Chased after emptiness.
