Things Can Only Look Up Poem by Ronald Speight

Things Can Only Look Up

I lay on the bottom of a pit
I thought it had no end
That I could just freefall
I fell to it I hit it

Laying on my back unable to move
All I can see is where I wish to be
The good that may come
I don’t fight it because
Everything happens for a reason

Maybe this is my tribulation
My assignment handed down to me
People say life is just hard
The world will sort it out

But why continue if there is no hope
Of a divine intervention
