This Black Heart Poem by V. T. Bullock

This Black Heart

Is there anyone out there who knows who I am, the truth without lies
Is there anyone out there who can truly see into these eyes
See the pain, the hurt, and this disagreeable task
The one where I hide behind this ugly mask
The real me cannot be accepted, and no one understands
This is not where I belong, not in these lands
The help that has been offered, anyone who shows they care
And try to explain, they just want to help and clear the air
Seem only to get deflected off this wall I have created
Out of anguish and anger, out of pain and tears, all the happiness and innocence has just faded
It has been replaced with irrational fears, a state of paranoia, confusion and mistrust
It seems as though this can just be solved with one simple knife thrust
This black heart needs to be destroyed
Something greater needs to fill this void
Something meaningful, something powerful, something emotional
This void is simply an empty heart needing something more devotional
It will find that one day, for now it just needs to be nursed back to health
It needs to start over, and be refilled with love, joy and happiness, in great wealth.
