This Long Poem by Tessa Eichhorst

This Long

Rating: 1.0

Has it been this long since you've gone
away? Five years since that tearful,
drearful, emotionfilled day? I think of
those days gone by of games we played
and those wonderful memories made.
I certainly haven't been the same since
heavenly angels took you with God to stay.

Has it been this long since that kiss goodbye?
I think of that second, that last time I kissed your
cheeck, papa are you still here? I dream
of seeing you again, hoping for another
hello kiss. But there is no more, no more
kisses hello, especially since I kissed you
goodbye.

Has it been this long since I hugged your tender
body? The last hug I gave, you were already gone.
The last hug my daddy gave you, you eternally
fell asleep in his arms. That day I gave you a hug
before I left. I squeezed you good and tight
knowing it may be the last hug wiht you alive.
Nothing can change the way I felt on that last
hug. I never cried so much before.

I really can't believe it's been this long without
a smile, a wave, a hug, or laugh. One day
when I see you again we'll make up for it
being so long.
