Those Gentle South Winds Poem by Clairjim Maraug

Those Gentle South Winds

Rating: 5.0

This has been a winter unlike any I have seen before
No snow on the ground and no freezing winds did blow
Been a whole lot like a mellow Spring time of the year
Those gentle South Winds have been blowing mostly around here
I step outside early in the morning onto the old wooden porch
And I am briskly awakened by an early morning chill
But it is nothing to compare to most winters on this hill
Usually by now the firewood is nearly all gone and time to cut more
But not this year, why I have even put on my shorts to go to the store
Anyway my friends I just hope your winter has been one to enjoy
Some of us miss the snow and some will shout 'O-Boy! ! '
So here I lift up my coffee cup to you all
And say I just hope I am this happy with the summer and fall
