Thunderstorm Poem by Kaila George2

Thunderstorm

ThunderStorm

I heard the scratching
Upon the window pane
The apple tree just outside
Swaying in the thunderstorm
It had been an odd night
I had convinced my parents
I was old enough to be
Left home alone

The tv was loud
As the intense music
Of the horror movie
Played in the background

Shadows splayed across
The window as it stretched
Across like the garnaled hands
Of a broken man

My heart skipped a beat
As my imagination ran wild
I had just finished watching
A horror show that left me
Shaking under my blankets

I refused to sleep
My family was out
So I ran around
Like a mad woman
Turning on every
Single light in the house

And thats how
My family found me
My parents shook their head
My siblings laughed
At my antics as I peeped
From under my blankets

In my young and fragile mind
I believed every thing I saw
I was 15 going on 16
And the OMEN
Left me speechless
