To Mother Poem by mae beezwax

To Mother

This is to the one who has held my hand
When the nightmares came around
To the one who stood up for me
When I felt like sinking into the ground
To the one who has loved me more
With each day that passes
To the one who made days happier
I hope that before too much time passes
I will be the one who can hold your hand
And for you make a stand
The one who makes your days happier
Comfort you and hear your laughter
Like mother like daughter
Your favors I want to return
So you can see the love inside me
And feel how bright it burns
I wish I could have some of your qualities
Some of your courage, some of your strength
And I hope that even though it doesn’t always show
My love for you each day only grows
So to the one who always thinks she knows
What’s best even when she’s only guessing
I want to give this poem
So when the day’s light is lessening
She can take it out and read it, the days I’m not there
And know for certain, no matter what I still care
