'To Tell The Truth' Poem by Linda Winchell

'To Tell The Truth'

If I could tell you how I really felt
you wouldn't like me very much.

If I could wander into your daily life
you wouldn't want my hand to touch.

If I could have you hear what I hear
you would most likely want to be struck deaf.

If it was life with you I only wanted part of
I think you'd cry it end in death.

If I could only love you more
you might prefer me to give you less.

So I'll love you the way I know how my dear
And not put your heart to test.

To tell the truth is all I can do
but sometimes that's not always for the best.
