Today's Woman Poem by Ekemini Udoh

Today's Woman

I respect the gender soft
for wisdom dwells on their loft
they are splendid wise
i know one, i keep her so dear like edelweiss
a disciplinarian, kind, patient, they're still extant
altho' she struggles daily, still she's this elegant
take a look at her, she is like a Jewel
forlorning her, is like the existence of English without vowel
a living legend, works hard to make ends meet
for her family, children, offers help with kindly treat
her daughters, look at them-are like marigold
the real woman, must have taught them to be bold
oh no! I'm caught struggling to wear a turban!
-i want to know how it feels to be Today's Woman.
