Today, Tomorrow, Poem by Sam Byron

Today, Tomorrow,

Yet again
You’ve wrapped me
Around
Your little finger.

So
Again today
I ask you
To do
What
You’ve been doing
All along
That seems
To put me
Under a hazy spell.

For
when you do
The only thing
I can seem to
Get right
Is how I feel
About you.

And,
Who I am
During
That time
Is who
I want to be.

Now,
If you ask
Why
All these changes
Have come about
All of the explanation
I need
Is in your name.

For
The things
You do
Start
At just saying
My name.

You
Realize not
What you do,
And
The funny thing
Is
Neither do I.

But,
Whatever it is
Just sends a shock
Right through me
And
Makes me
The one
I am

Today,
Tomorrow,
Next week,
Next month,

And,
During that time
I am proud
To be me.

Because,
Whenever you around
I can’t blink
I can’t talk
Nor,
Can I breathe
The only thing
I can do is stare

At
The person
Who made me
Who I am

Today,
Tomorrow,
Next week,
Next month,

And

For
Many
Years to come.
