"Look over there! Across the lake! "
White cap dust clouds
And bellowing wind
as bullets,
Graze skin and
sand castle lawns.
Out of the water
People are running,
Dripping wet suits
And hail stricken cars.
Me on the beach,
Her side by side
Distraught disbelief
At wind funnel formation.
A mile away
It's wave riding
movement
feverishly flying
As a chariot of Poseidon
All energy and air
water and wind
Sucked as a vacuum
in northward direction.
Loud bursts of lightning,
And deafening gusts,
sound as an air engine
Upon stall fire crashing.
I rub my eyes
Making sure thatI'm here.
A tornado finds home
in Central New York.
'It's Global warm weather'
my hippie love's saying
Strange days and fiction
with
Nodding agreement.
Then
As soon as it came
Disappearing
as quickly
sun breaks through clouds
and relief laden breathing.
If Dorothy were here
the witch would be dead
followed by munchkins
and beautiful scenery.
One things for certain
it's never occurred,
that I've seen a tornado
in Central New York.
Strange days indeed
and wondering
bemusement
funnel wind cycles
are for Kansas
no more.

A very thought provoking poem with a very real message Thanks Ivor
A lot of people dismiss global warming, but our planet is always changing regardless of whether man has contributed to it, a very well written topical piece David, 10 Lynda xx
Watching from an armchair, in the mini screen it is beautiful, that deadly funnel
Wonderfully observed. Compelling picture of powerlessness in the face of nature. fx
I'm close enough to NY that I get there on occasion and as a sometimes visitor/observer, I beg to differ - there are tornados in NY, I think... they are, though, of the human sort. Actually.... I think I may have been one myself a few years back (don't ask) . : P It's quite a thing to ponder though... watching a funnel cloud roll into New York. Geesh... yeh... that would be something. You've painted an image in my mind that is nothing short of alarming. Christine
I live in Kansas and have seen tornadoes all my life. I've been to New York, and to see a tornado there would be very strange indeed. Great description!
A powerful tornado swirls across after Roman Bath in Central New York, Exceptional David, scripted well and you created a bizarre storm...... 10 for this Rgs Rema
very powerful description of so much more than a tornado! ! ! Good work as always David... another bit of proof that you can write about anthing.
Beautifully written, David. I love the reference to Dorothy and Kansas. Ten from me. Warmest regards, Sandra
