Treading Water Poem by shannon wright

Treading Water

Rating: 5.0

Treading water but not wasting time
building a foundation
that will last forever
I looked for so long
searched high and low
for the mythical, elusive one
they call “soul-mate”.
Reflectively, I know,
this is how it had to be
face to face we may not
have taken the time
to really know each other.
we would have rushed ahead blindly
on a wave of passion and chemistry
missing the essence of each other
neglecting to see the other’s true character.
from friend to best friend to my one true love..
each step revealed a layer of you
that led me to me.
