True Independence Poem by M. Asim Nehal

True Independence

Rating: 5.0

Most of the countries were ruled by one or others
Group of like-minded people fought with purpose
Struggle, persistence and patience paid them well
Finally the all got independence from the rulers

Though they all celebrate each year, what did they gain?
Did they get what they wanted from the independence?
Just obtaining the piece of land is enough to call independence?
Or Ruling over own people was their objective?

All are struggling now with enough politics
None of the country gained political independence
A handful of power greedy politicians are ruling the roost
The people down below are still fighting a battle to gain independence

Laws are made to suit what they wish
They are indeed the masters of disguise
Welfare begins at home, they follow it rigorously
And ends with those who supports them

Individuals are still struggling for independence
Independence from poverty, politics, divisive rules
Independence from inequality, reservations and preferences
Independence from slavery of our own thoughts.

Its a painful reality. When we struggle to be free we are all one but get separated when the ruling class forgets what is is we were struggling for. They do exactly, if not worse, what the oppressor was doing. The moral of the story...life is a life long struggle and am glad you have made your contribution by writing this resistance poem. Aluta continua!

3) The last one: The Indonesians speaks the Bahasa Indonesia. One languge for all corners throughout Indonesia. I bow deepest for my homeland. And One Country, not divided in so many smallers states. Of course they have their own dialects, but all inhabitants do speak the Bahasa Indonesia. Thank you so much that you gonna read this. My response is a RESULT of your poem TRUE INDEPENDENCE after having revisited this poem.

2) I continue this, since I have more things to tell you, thank you for your attention: CONT.enemies in the government who fight him, since he is truly honest. Only the death penalty is restored since he became president to fight the import of forbidden (addiction) tablets.from abroad. I am proud to tell you about The Republic of Indonesia that this great country of more than 4000 islands has One National Language (the late First President had done that Ir. Soekarno)

Indeed, what is TRUE INDEPENDENCE? ! For example, I KNOW that my homeland has got true freedom now during th reign of Ir. Jokowi, the FIRST Indonesian President sans corruption, can YOU imagine that? A country of more than 3000 Islands and Isles, since 1945 they speak ONE national language, the Bahasa Indonesia, but NOW during the government of.Ir.Jokowi there is no corruption anymore, at least he is not corrupt, but he has many

Well said dear poet, this is today's crying need... and also too much of patriotism, or narrow nationalism can lead to nowhere.
