Two Little Kittens Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

Two Little Kittens

My heart is heavy with pain
As I think of my sweet kittens,
So young and feeble, so helpless,
Crying for milk with tears that glisten.

Their mama cat left them alone,
In a cruel world so harsh and cold,
Leaving them to fend for themselves,
Their eyes red and their spirits old.

With papa cat nowhere to be found,
They were left to suffer in the storm,
Helplessly lying under the apple tree,
Yelling for help, so frail and forlorn.

As the days passed, they cried in vain,
Longing for the warmth of their mother's lap,
But she had left them, without a care,
Disposed of them in an unfathomable gap.

They moaned and moaned, day after day,
As the sun beat down and the heat blazed on,
All alone, in pain and in misery,
Abandoned by the one they had relied on.

Now they sleep there, so still and so small,
Waiting for their mama cat to return,
But she has left them, forever and all,
Disposed of them with such callous concern.
