United In Grief Poem by Jenny Barton

United In Grief

A family United by by mere tragedy
So quick and unexpected, confused our we, our hearts are torn, withered in pain
Our loss can only be heavens gain.

Why were you taken when there was time left to have?
Why was it you? how can it be? why the hell did it happen and cause such misery?

You see you was loved in every which way,
Your absence is huge - like a hole in the sky
Not even now can we call it goodbye.

The days are long and grey and yet life still goes on,
Feelings of anger and then feelings are gone.

Seasons will change, the sun stills rises high, the Stars still shine in the deep blue sky.

But for us, life has changed, yet we carry on, and suddenly days have all become one.

Now it has meaning when someone says your name.
A bullets been shot and landed in vain.

We Wish there had been time, we wish every day, hopefully the pain will somehow fadeaway.

Surely we can't live anymore feeling so sad but thankful you knew how much love we all had.
So we carry on because that's what you do, but it will always be because of our love for You.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We lost our dad so suddenly, apparently his brain was covered in tumours and the doctors could not believe he had been carrying on normally. He was such a strong man even to the end. It was quick thank god for him but has left our family in turmoil.
I am not a poet, I have no qualifications, but this is my way of coping. Please do not judge my grammar as the words are just coming from the heart.
