Upward Mobility Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Upward Mobility

Discussing a decision,
To have condoned one's craze.
At the benefit of more to come.
Acceptable although limited.
For those with minds restricted,
To images and impressions they make.
Left to leave a void of common sense.
And the absence of any use of it.
Gone from memory to define.

Discussing a decision to have condoned,
Incompetence of a leadership.
Well known to debate it.
Yet hopeful of a return,
Of self examination intended and meant.
With a revealing of evidence,
Somehow produced that proves with truth...
The doing of this had been witnessed.
Without pretense of a performance given.
In front of an audience for attention to get.

Yet...
Remaining to stay,
Are discussions of a craze.
Without delay and to allow,
A loyalty to a mentality sick.
Proving this kind of mind represents,
A society convinced to perceive...
Their wants and needs are being fulfilled.
With overwhelming interest.
Left to leave many approaching,
Their way of life and the quality of it...
Slowly diminishing until depleted.

Done to do with honor.
And blinded to what's ahead.

"Oh...
This view is majestic.
Panoramic and obstacle free.
We...
Are on the verge of upward mobility.
I can see it.
Why can't you? "

-From where I stand.
And on this cliff.
We have pledged an alligence,
More to delusion.
To eventually realize,
Truth to delude...
Has its own consequences to pay.-

"So negative are your kept thoughts."

-I know.
And I wish there was something positive,
To capture my imagination.
Before this cliff we are about to step off! -
