Victory Operation Enduring Freedom? Poem by Terence George Craddock (Spectral Images and Images Of Light)

Victory Operation Enduring Freedom?

global observers
New York post
9/11 aftermath

allies enemies
with baited breath
wondered at

responses
as bombs
fell every

six seconds on
capital Kabul Afghanistan
without mercy...

Operation Enduring Freedom
stated ploy goal of dismantling
al-Qaeda terrorist organization

left civilian largest city
in invaded Afghanistan
littered in bomb craters

foliage burned blackened
rotting collateral civilian
dead recruitment bodies

triumphant United States had
removed target Taliban regime
created a viable democratic state...

or had NATO forces fanned
birth seeds widespread
revenge Taliban insurgency?

Postscript analysis a decade on
reason had world's supreme only
remaining superpower responded

coolly cautiously carefully
to avoid plunge bathing in rivers
of blood endless war death

of American democracy
berserk unleashing frenzied
attacks upon everyone...

regardless of consequences?
Reason prevailed not mired
wars of occupation followed

in Iraq Libya Afghanistan
deploying drones in Pakistan
clubs CIA FBI covertly

unleashed teams of mercenary
assassins across the world to hunt
down kill in name democracy!

Is it not enough five US wars?
Can we advance into extra occupations?
Are we drunk with malice hate?

Are we addicted to foreign wars?
Are we addicted to violence bloodshed?
Are we addicted to greed hatred?

Do any wise American generals
really believe they can bludgeon
all nations an entire world

into obedience with total immunity?
All questions posed all queries submitted
to Washington are answered with attacks?

From bombs guns missiles tanks
as mechanized death drones on?
Has Congress completely abdicated

constitutional duty as authorized only
government body that declare war can?
Congress routinely ignored in matters

of military action responsibility policy?
America when will you learn might does not
prove right disarm enemies with a smile kind?
