Village Life Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Village Life

Rating: 5.0

How do you feel in remote area or village?
Narrow streets, no light and no drainage
Bath, mouthwash and everything in open
Visit to any of the home by outsider is clearly seen

What a feeling of closeness and openness?
Hardly any one can afford to keep gloom on the face?
There is invitation from neighbors to guests
As they are the real relatives or friends as best

There exists still inseparable bond
They are simple, no class consciousness and very much fond
Of out side world and eager to know about the people
As everything is scarce but basic things are available without trouble

Such may be village life elsewhere too
I have found frankness; love and hearts are very true
Nobody pays scant respect to the elders
There is special feeling for bank manager, village head and teachers

Police is scared of but no doubt acts as savior
Their entry at odd hours is considered as dishonor
It becomes talk of town if some death takes place
Whole of the village bears deserted look on the face

Even though some modern development has taken place
It has still maintained fine tradition and has old traces
It is free from hustle and bustle and life is at ease
You can relax for short period and find the energy release

Even though it may have some draw backs with old rivalry
It has maintained the old culture and presented it as contrary
The city and village life is independent but unique in style
The difference may still remain and be apart by miles

Women folks are considered as matter of grave concern
Any step leading to their dishonor takes ugly turn
That kind of grudge is kept in mind for years together
Little skirmishes too take place and continue for generations later

The village has still greenery and is devoid of high rise buildings
The morning life is humming up when bell of holy shrine rings
The life comes to active participation when people start coming out
Sit out side in open, read news papers or call some one with big shout
