Voice Of Reason Poem by David Oladipupo Olorunshola

Voice Of Reason

Where is that just society?
Where is that voice of reason?
If you were dump,
It would have been excusable
If you were blind,
No one would charge you
You simple watch in silence
You refused to speak
And stop the carnage
Where are the elders?
Where are the royal fathers?
Where are those people
Willing to be valiant for truth
Why did you conspire?
To commit this atrocity
And allow blood to be spilt
With our consciences seared
Arrow of evil allowed
Has pierced your hearts
Has shut out the voice of reason
Where are the men
Empowered under the law
To be fair and just
Do they look the other way?
In the midst of these
Horrendous murder of four
By the so called vigilante
In collusion with Aluu land
Cutting short the future
And hope of our land
We no longer tremble
Nor stagger at evil
We parade ourselves
And display our stony hearts
We are those men and women
Whose hearts still care?
Why are they found missing
When most needed
To rise to the occasion
And stop this atrocity
And those who have the power
To halt the murder
But turn their back
All will answer one day
One day
Before their maker
