WE WERE BLESSED

Blessed with a church, that sang a lot
Has anybody any favorites here
The hands shot up in unison
Which gave the angels a cheer

We learnt those hymns and sung along
Learning a hundred or two
Great hymns of the faith our favorite
Was always in the pew

There were some speedy gonzales's
Who beat us to the punch
But next Sunday we were prepared
And picked our favorite bunch

What a wondrous witnessing tool
The song of the soul set free
As it emulates from the heart
Of a sinner such as me

Amazing Grace is still around
You've heard it I am sure
Read the biography of this man
John Newton's repetoire

Oh how merry is the heart
That knows its been forgiven
Let hallelujah's rule supreme
In saints now fitted for heaven

Loose the tongues Lord of Thy church
And let it sing Thy praise
Soon we will be singing there
With Christ, the Ancient of Days
