We Were Foreigners Poem by Randy McClave

We Were Foreigners

Noah was a foreigner
When his Ark landed on the sand,
Then when he and his family and creatures came ashore
They completed God's commanded chore;
Now they were given a new home and land.

Mosses too was a foreigner
When he led his people together in their band,
His people was sent to find a new home
So, far from their birthplace they all did roam;
Then faraway they found new dwellings in a new land.

Israelites were all foreigners
When in a different country they went as God did command,
As hated immigrants they came to a town
Then the walls of Jericho came tumbling down;
They then killed all, this now would be their land.

Jesus and his disciples were all foreigners
When they stretched out a helping hand,
Besides the Jews they also saved the gentiles
As they spread the word of God for many miles;
Then they traveled and preached in a different land.

Our forefathers were also all foreigners
When to this country they came and were not banned,
But, now when we see any foreigners
We hate them, and we want them to be mourners;
Even though they came to live in this great land.
