What A Lovely Way To Burn Poem by Paula Glynn

What A Lovely Way To Burn

Rating: 5.0

The devil waiting in the flames,
But we are heart-to-heart,
Love never costing a thing,
Those nights in hotels,
Where our souls sing,
As we burn,
Like the embers of cigarettes,

Whether rich or poor,
Believing in sin,
Myself poor,
A man rich, yet never harsh,
Our differences sparking wonder,
Passion in red hot sheets,
As we kiss hungrily,

And no matter rich or poor,
We stay in love,
At least physically,
But we never feel spite,
And we never fight,
Or pick each other apart,
Money being set alight,
By the devil himself,
As he watches us burn,
In love with passion in the heart,

We harbour secret desires,
Wave after wave of pleasure,
In the night-time to treasure,
Never forgotten pleasure,
Soul deep, soul mates from the start,
Passion sparking like fireworks,
The sky celebrating a union of love,

We lay beneath those angelic clouds,
Little ones to not see us in love,
No one outside the walls aware,
That our clothes we try to bear,
But leave us wanting more,
Even these love poems written before,

I don't know how I met you,
But I have no regrets,
In spite of bitter memories,
Although those aggressors,
To not see me in love,
To have no idea what I feel at night,
As I think of his body,
And think of the passion,
Excitement and adventure,
Written in the scars of my heart,

Lovers burn in red hot sheets,
Egyptian cotton soothing the morning,
Two lovers lying underneath,
The morning sun,
An affair to last forever,
And a life of pleasure begun,

Tonight we are one,
Not wanting morning to come,
Wave after wave of pleasure,
They cannot see,
But I charge no fee,
For I am his lover,
A word I've heard before,
But the passion is pure,
And of his attraction I am sure,

For these desires of the heart,
Set us apart,
A love story as if a fairytale,
Between the rich and poor,
A life in which we adore,
And do as we so ever wish,

These emotions never relent,
And I will never repent,
The devil casting a spell,
Desire in the body,
Desire never ended by time.

What a lovely way to burn.
