What Hurts The Most Poem by Nicole Delong

What Hurts The Most

Of all the things in life,
There's one thing I never want.
I walk the thin glass,
On the bridge of life,
To avoid the one thing I've experienced the most.
Being hurt.
I never want to hurt another,
And though I try so hard,
Without intention it comes along.
Knowing pain all through life,
is hard enough.
Knowing I'm the cause,
is so much more than hard.
I can only say I'm sorry
And hate that it occurred.
I can never take it back,
I can never heal the tear,
It will haunt me all my life
And I'll never forgive myself.
It's the last thing ever on my mind
A greatest fear in life.
I've been on that side so much,
I know how it feels.
To be the one, the cause
Is really what hurts the most.
