What Is Beauty? Poem by Gordon Bailey

What Is Beauty?

Is it in the eye of the beholder or is it skin deep
should we see ourselves as others see us.
What is beauty?

A woman should not be an object of desire
perceptual pleasure she has grace, charm and elegance.
But women are used like a throw away object a piece of
fashion to be adorn, worn on the arm like an emblem of manhood.

This is not how it should be a woman is so complex
kindness for the love of a child, sensitive to others feelings.
She has compassion and creativity which makes her so intelligent
not just there to be desirable, physical factors are superficial.

Women have become commercialized and used because of their form
but there are so many layers to a woman.Sexual liberation is freedom.

Women are more than the 'Raunch culture' and the wet 'T' shirt brigade.
Beauty is elitist say the politically correct, I say stop stereotyping women beauty is more than 'Lookism'. Todays woman is still discriminated and Influenced by attractiveness.

Beauty today should not be a subject of sexual objectification, even when beauty becomes an Icon its the person behind the mask that reveals their inner beauty.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the beholder must express sensertivity to others. We all have beauty in one form or another. So

kiss the world and shout out loud 'I am beautiful.'
