Don’t dwell on what may lie behind us or
what lies in front of us. We should ignore
them both, and concentrate on what’s within
ourselves, the terminus where we begin.
Inspired by a quotation from Ralph Waldo Emerson a mother sent her daughter who was celebrating her Bat Mitvah at California Institute for Women in Corona: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.” The story was reported by Annabelle Gurwitch in The Jewish Journal, September 9,2009, at http: //www.jewishjournal.com/bar_and_bat_mitzvahs/article/inmates_celebrate_bnot_mitzvah_20090909
