When Men Die On The Streets Untried Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

When Men Die On The Streets Untried

When Men Die on the Streets Untried

When men die on the streets untried
Are the scales of justice broken?
Is Freedom silent, has it died
When men die on the streets untried?
What law would have their lives denied,
Are courts too deaf to hear these men?
When men die on the streets untried
Are the scales of justice broken?

No need for judge or evidence
When bullets speak the final word.
No trials there just death sentence,
No need for judge or evidence.
The dead are mute with no defense
From tyrants who think they are lord,
No need for judge or evidence
When bullets speak the final word.

Thank you Mario, yes it is true. Only a madmen can order the killing of so many people suspected of drug crimes. Some were minors and children. This truly saddens me and I cry for my country.

Thank you Mario, I appreciate the verses very much. Yes only a madman can order the killing of so many people suspected (not proven in court) of drug crimes. Some were minors and children, Yet I believe a man reaps what he sows.

I know about these attacks on innocent people. They have no chance to defend themselves. It seems that the Judge has disappeared with his great Law-Org. This is not an example of how to rule a nation, a country with the friendliest population, but no great power from abroad are intending to help these victims of the Phil.President, oh yes, how was his name? I don't remember it, but we all can google online. Excellent poem, Cynthia, powerfully worded. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you dear poetess Sylvia Frances Chan. As of now the number of people killed is 3,790. Not all of them are drug pushers or drug dealers, many are innocent victims and some are even children and minors 14-17 years old. We Filipinos condemn this act of tyranny and blatant disregard fro human rights. Even a suspect has the right to be heard in court and evidence against him presented. Freedom without Justice is not freedom.
