When Strangers Become Friends Poem by Walterrean Salley

When Strangers Become Friends

Such a phenomenon is life;
Miracles happen every day.
Somethings are bold and radical;
Others - subtle in minute ways.

The tadpole morphs to a ‘toad frog.'
Caterpillars to 'butterflies.'
The summer, winter, spring and fall
Are ever changing ‘fore the eye.

And there's a place within my heart;
A place that's been reserved for them.
Reserved for such a long, long time.
Margaret and Loyd - a special gem.

To a labored path - trudged so long -
Their presence added a sweet song,
The strangers from so far away,
Who touched my life one grateful day.

I'm glad our paths sweetly converge,
Which makes my heart merrily sing.
It makes my spirits sweetly soar;
For I could ask no better thing.

Friends oft' make the journey lighter
On life's rough, rugged carpet ride,
Bringing much to life's roundtable
Of kindness, peace, beauty and pride.

I humbly bow my head in grace
To thank the Lord for such a trove
(Like crystal vases from life's shelf)
As we share faith, hope, and pure love.

Two lights that glimmer, oh, so bright -
Donning the wisdom of a sage.
Lord bless, and keep securing these:
A living ‘treasure' of the age.
