Where Do We Go From Here... Poem by Regina Witherspoon

On January 12,2010 Haiti shook,
On that day countless lives were took.
We can’t imagine your heartache nor can we feel your pain,
Where do we go from here…is that a question or a phrase? ?


People standing around in shock looking at the demolished buildings-
Churches, Homes, Schools, nothing left- no walls, no ceilings.


You stare in agony, the pictures show your dismay, your expressions cry out-
Probably pondering how God could allow such pain.


Lives lost of the ones you’ve once cherished most-
Broken hearts, broken faith, no room left for hope.


What’s one to do when all they have are lost and gone-
How do you pick up the pieces…how does one carry on? ?


These are all unanswered questions and most of our biggest fears-
Can you imagine no one to lean on…no one there to wipe the tears? ?


The smaller things in life we all seem to take for granted-
That’s a mistake and we will no longer support its habit.


So try to remember the day that Haiti shook,
It was January 12TH and countless lives were took.
No, we can’t imagine their heartache nor can we feel their pain-
But we can continue to Pray for them “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith...” (Hebrews 12: 2.) Where do we go from here...a question and a phrase.
