Whiz! Life’s A Snake & Ladder Biz: (Luc Bat)

Rating: 4.5

Brain’s hell and heaven, whizz! –
Life’s a snake-ladder biz: men fly
Up and down on the SKY,
Wherein imagination dwells
In ways two river’s flood tells
Everyone a tale, what-else! Mud goes
To bottom as scum shows
Up – ABC suppose are seen
Deeds and XYZ mean
Hidden passions umpteen – dear kin!
Luc bat rhyme spells your sin
Or names you a big winner, quiz!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Description: Luc bat means six-eight, and is a syllabic form alternating lines of six syllables and eight syllables. It uses a kind of falling/climbing rhyme where a rhyme sound first shows up as the eighth syllable of an eight syllable line, then at the end of the next six-syllable line, then as the sixth syllable of the next eight-syllable line, which starts the cycle again with its eighth-syllable rhyme. The form interlocks and can go on for any number of couplets, finally interlocking back to the beginning.

Origin: Vietnamese
