Why do I write Poetry?
Why are my poems read?
What have I to say that’s different?
Has it not already been said?
I must write my verses,
That all wish to read,
To see if my rhymes do rhyme,
And if I always succeed.
Whatever I am doing,
Wherever I do go,
Words in verse they come to me,
Sometimes fast and sometimes slow.
I often wish that they would stop,
And come to me later on,
To let me do the things I wish,
And not catch me ‘on the hop.’
