I believe sincere respect
for others is perhaps the beginning
of true respect for ourselves.
The confidences kept held sacred
are hallmarks of esteemed patriarchs
matriarchs who served as guides
role models
in our formulative years
eventually seeds
of their wisdom love
nurtured in us
becomes the embodiment
of the best qualities
within seasoned us
if we allow ourselves
to grow with time
maturity as the greatest
of our forbearers did.
