Wisdom Or Behaviour! Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

A king named Somasundar
was ruling a country named Somapuram.

The king had highest regards and respect
to 'The Chief Advisor' than the other ministers!

Since 'The Chief Advisor' is well versed in many aspects,
he was conferred as 'Extreme Genius'!

Whenever The Chief Advisor come to the king's chamber,
the king greets and leads him to his seat!

The Chief Advisor was extremely happy at this, but he wanted
to know what quality in him makes the king to respect him more!

The Chief Advisor thought of a plan to test the king!
While The Chief Advisor was returning home one day,

the treasury officer was coming with boxes of cash and jewellery
from which the Advisor took two pearls and put these in his pocket!

when the Advisor was repeating the same in the following days,
the treasury officer reported this to the king!

while the Chief Advisor was entering the king's chamber next day,
the king, knowing this, was seated still in his chair and looked at the Advisor!

The king asked the Advisor whether he had taken the pearls
from the treasury officer!

He said, 'Yes Majesty! I wanted to make a test whether
the 'Wisdom is respected or honest behaviour is respected for honouring me!

But I understood a great truth today that my wisdom is with me for ever
without any change; but a change had happened in my behaviour!

Yes! I took a few pearls without your permission that aroused your anger.
As you ever greet me by getting up from your chair, you didn't get up today,

but you started inquiring me. This makes me to understand that the reason
for any person getting respect is only due to his morality and behaviour!

The explanation given by the Chief Advisor
has enhanced his respect here-forth than before!
