With Abated Breath Poem by Ash Parker

With Abated Breath

I looked up at the sky tonight; I saw the stars sparkle
Its beautiful hue flickering in the skies
Like heavens warm invite.

I looked up at the sky this morning; I saw the sun slowly rise.
Its splendor spread across the skies.
Like heavens welcoming smile.

I looked all around; life went on.
The birds sang their melodious song.
Children chuckled and cheerfully played.
Flowers blossomed and more plants sprouted.
People ever so busy as cars just moved.
Ah yes, I looked around; life went on.

3 months they say,
Perchance a day or less a day!
It doesn’t matter anyway.
As today I enjoy every breath I take.
If tomorrow comes, who knows?
Today’s cherished moment just glows.

Death might claim my next breath.
I want to go with no regret.
Let the world stop and not forget
The splendor around to appreciate.
Take a breath now… and another two.
Slowly close your eyes to the calls around you.
Then open your eyes to life that surrounds you.

Yes 3 months they say!
But each day a lifetime of its own
Of fulfillment I’ve never known.
Of the little time let us not frown or cry and bemoan.

For I looked up at the sky today,
And what I saw took my breath away.
