Xenophobia In South Africa Poem by enne aig

Xenophobia In South Africa

Xenophobia in south

From durban to johannesburg
The cry of shop owners like a bug
The stench of foreigners have returned
A lazy mans weapon now institutionalized

Africans fought a war to liberate fatherland
Now imported clothes becomes weapons of hate
Brotherhood no more lives in the hood
Survival of the owner against hospitality's reprimand
Dislocated value system with less room for any stranger

Who are they in the world, to make it better?
Who will give, to make a better place for the other?
Who will save his own life by the act of saving another?
Who will run to the other when fire visits his home?
Who will travel far to reach lost ones?

Questions bring out answers that clarifies
It is time to time our responses to life's questions
It is time to think and make the world a better place
It is time to move out of our boats and walk on water
The right change will change our whole lives

From south Africa to the whole of Africa
From the movements and chaos in America
From Asia and the chopping of heads in Indonesia
From the green grasses of Brazil to the chilly plains of Chile
From the 'eternal grace' of Israel to the wars in the middle east
All around the world living must be respected easily
No Change that we make is too small
We are the world and we must love all
We must respect natural law and let it lead all

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It is a truism that people of all tribes, nations of the world migrate to other parts for one reason or the other.
The acceptance of a foreigner will to a greater extent depend on the disposition of the said foreigner. Some are adored, respected and worshipped, while some are straightly looked down upon and disliked.
Xenophobia, according to the free dictionary, is the person who is fearful and contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or of people from different countries or cultures.
Xenophobia simply means the fear of any foreign person or thing.
What I termed extreme Xenophobia could be regarded as the forceful desire to do away with anything that is not localized in the eyes of indegenes of any locality.
Not quite long this concept played out sadly in a part of south Africa and the rippling effect was felt around the world.
