Yellow Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

Yellow

Rating: 4.8

The ominous Yellow, conferred us not the benediction;
It roamed the streets with us for years, everywhere;
Persiflage its bestowed Light—prelude to crucifixion;
Chimerical guidance through paths which led no-where.

It beguiled us with sunbeams in our hair, in adoration,
With beatific hearts, and sun-flower iris in our eyes;
With neonate emotions, fervent in sanguine exaltation:
An oneiric and frenzied Love dissolving walls of ice.

Oft' I think of the yellow signs unveiled in summer-days:
Those yellow rosebuds, your lighter, my hidden jealousy;
Our fear and fever—tormented pale expression on our face;
The ‘Coldplay' in your voice, the saddest azure of your eyes...

Lemon-yellow our finite hours, gasping for air near you:
Two woeful hearts with love un-uttered—the cruellest end!
Adieu, long-finished love yet to begin: condemned to
Renunciation—that yellow teddy bear sitting on my chair.

Yellow often has inauspicious associations! Yellow jealousy, yellow journalism, neonate jaundice, pale yellow face when tormented with fear.....etc, etc! You have beautifully conveyed the ominous associations of Yellow! A poem much higher than the ordinary! Enjoyed!
