There’s a lone figure on the wharf
She’s been standing there for quite some time
The gentle rain conceal the tears that roll down her cheek
And there’s a whisper of hope that still haunts her

She’s waiting for something
Those three words that craved themselves in her heart
And his name is tattooed in her veins
He doesn’t know how much she’s hurting
He doesn’t know her eyes are closed so she can keep dreaming
That the sound of his heartbeat is all that she’s hearing
And that his loving caress is all that she’s longing

Perhaps its better this way

Her silence is infuriating
And there’s a fire raging within her fragile frame
She’s beating at the glass
Her hoarse whisper
Those three words that craved themselves in her crying heart
But you see, she’s set him free
He’s already spread his wings
She didn’t realize it was her that had lost the will to fly
So she remains
She’s trying to stretch the stitches so far they begin to split at the seams
She’s trying to pretend that night where she lived for him was a dream
She’s trying to forget the touch of his lips and the fire it brings
She’s trying to walk away from the embrace that made her feel complete

She is the clock that has forgotten the time

She has kept her heart broken
Maybe you’ll remember her face in the crowd
The glass child behind unseen eyes
She’s waiting under the stars, specks of silver light
Strewn across a sky so dark, a godless throne
From here they had walked alone

So she remains
