You Knew Poem by Jeanne Antoinette Tyler

You Knew

Life is but a deadly fire
Ready to burst
Ready to let go
When the moment
Becomes too powerful
Slips away
Die slowly
Dies by water

You knew

I have lived like a fire
A small, but powerful one
But now
As I sink to the bottom
As the water fills my lungs
I say goodnight to the life I once knew as great

You knew

How could you do this to me?
How could you leave my to drown
In my sorrows

You knew

The last air floats away
I feel the sharp pain of death upon me
I feel the darkness pass through my soul

You knew

For you knew
That I loved you
That I needed you
That I would die for you
And yet you walked through the door
As if nothing had happened

You knew

How could you think
It was nothing
I sacrificed much
For you
I killed
For you
I loved you
I loved you
I hate you

You knew
