You're The One I Love Poem by Marquita Lawson

You're The One I Love

I don't need to eat the icing off the cake,
to celebrate our love;
I don't need to stand under mistletoe,
to let you know- you're the one I love!
I don't need a sweet singing valentine,
candlelight dinner or Rosé Wine
I don't need to see a tender movie show-
just-to-know-our-love is fine

You give me: hope for-ever after-
Tears of joy, ‘n years of laughter…
when we're just having fun
You give me - sunshine and moonbeams-
lovely rainbows and sweet dreams…
Everything that's wonderful
all rolled into one (you're the one!)

It doesn't matter if the phone don't ring,
Or the birds don't sing ‘cuz you're the one I love;
It doesn't matter if months go by, I
won't cry or even sigh, ‘cuz you're the one I love!
It doesn't matter if it cold wind blows,
‘cuz heaven knows you're the one I love
Doesn't-matter-if-I'm-in-the-pourin'-rain,
'cuz just the same - you're the one I love!

You give me: hope for-ever after-
Tears of joy, ‘n years of laughter…
when we're just having fun
You give me-sunshine and moonbeams-
lovely rainbows and sweet dreams…
Everything that's wonderful
all rolled into one (you're the one!)

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A patient I worked with had such a loving attitude about life, God and her boyfriend.She was in her 80's already and loving being in love. I had the honor of singing it to her before She passed. I love thinking about how much love she had.
