You Win, It's About You Poem by Colleen House

You Win, It's About You

If it was you who crossed my path raked your fingers across my heart only to exit as abruptly as you entered then yes, it's about you. If it was you who opened your mouth and whatever ever came up came out, none of which resembled truth, then it's about you. If it was you who attempted to break me with your words, your actions or your fists, then yes it's about you. If it was you who pissed on, laughed at, didn't believe in or simply understand my dreams, then yes it's about you. If it was you who turned out to be so completely vain, assuming that all empty pages would be filled with word after word about you, then yes you are right it is about you. Sweet baby without you I might have never know what it felt like to care for a man who didn't give a damn about me. My darling without you how would I recognize a man who never keeps his word.Sweet baby without you I wouldn't be able to detect the stinch of sugar-coated bullshit. My angel without you I am stronger, more driven and more focused.Without you I will never again knowingly walk into a situation that may break my heart or my sprit.Without you I will hold on and hold out for my chocolate prince. Finally shame on me for holding my expectations up so high, well outta your reach.Shame on you for pretending to be something and someone you simply are not. Yes baby you win it is about you.
