Your List Poem by Grace Diane Jessen

Your List

Rating: 5.0

If you're past sixty-five
and your thoughts are "old school, "
and you're starting to feel
like a useless old fool,
try listing the things
you have done that are cool.

You'll remember some times
that you felt were worth while,
like a ride in a plane
or your running the mile,
or the little achievements
that still make you smile.

It will be a good therapy,
filling your head
with the frivolous, awesome,
or strange life you've led
and you'll leave your heirs something
to read when you're dead.

My list of cool things I've done is about six pages long.

All the cool things I've done... would be listed by the middle of page one.

I'm afraid I've done nothing, so I've nothing to tell. My life's an empty bucket from an old and dry well.

What is cool is up to you. Each of us has our own definition. My list goes back to my childhood and is currently about six pages long. For example, I thought it was cool to sit on the front row and watch Jose Greco's amazing feet as he did a flamenco dance!

Nice poem. Wow,6 pages of cool things. How about writing a poem with those things?

Better to leave them something to read than something to spend, eh? Excellent poem. Outstanding rhyme and meter. I've never made a list of all the 'cool' things I've done, and if I did, I'm sure it would be much shorter than six pages!
